(More customer reviews)I ordered my filters and they were shipped from Promax.After doing more research in my area I found the filters about half the price at my local Target store.I posted a review on Amazon stating that I was upset that I had paid more from Amazon/Promax and that even tho I would continue to buy from Amazon, I would not order from Promax again.I received my order and posted my review.I then received 3 phone calls and two e-mails from Promax wanting to know what they could do to resolve my opinion -- David actually told me they "lived and died" by their reviews and asked me to please take down my negative review and they would do whatever they could to make me happy.I was out of town, however, I took my review down on 4/24 and called the company back today, 4/27, to tell them I had taken the review down. Promax rep David, on speaker phone, ask me what price I had bought the same item from from Target, would he be able to go online and verify the price, that he would not refund my shipping, he actually said I knew how much I was paying for the item when I hit "send" on my order, and there was no way they would refund my shipping--I should know that I had to pay shipping when I buy something.Needless to say, I am now extremely unhappy with this whole Promax experience.When they wanted me to take down my review they were absolutely wonderful; after I took down my review I was the idiot.I told them not to worry about any type of refund, to expect my negative review back online.

I would hope anyone out there would run as fast as they could from this company.In this day and age customer service is a must for any business.This company is AWFUL.As I stated before -- I will continue to buy from Amazon, but if what I need is only available from Promax--I will do without.

I once had an absolutely catastrophic spill in my bathroom that I had to clean up with my Swiffer Wet Jet and I was surprised how much water the Swiffer soaked up. Don't underestimate these plain-looking pads - locked inside the pads is are tiny polymer beads that, when wet, turn gelatinous and expand to many times their original size. These pads can soak up more water than you might think!

The sticky, smeary residue that someone mentioned is the gelatinous substance from a ruptured cleaning pad. Under normal circumstances, the Swiffer WebJet Cleaning Pads should not leave a residue on your floor.

I bought this vacuum for my apartment in NYC with two other roommates. I have wood floors throughout the apartment. And I found that this vacuum is a little too much for this. I learned that this type vacuum is great for carpets and rugs. It still did its job well on bare floors. All the components worked well, and the attachments are pretty useful.

MAINTENANCE:
You have to clean this vacuum regularly. There are about 5 parts that needs to be cleaned thoroughly. These are the plastic reusable filters separates the dust from the larger chunks crumbs that the vacuum might pick up. In order for the vacuum to operate properly these filters have to be cleaned by washing it in soapy water, scrubbed, and dried. If poor maintenance clogs the filters it WILL damage the motor.

In a roommate environment, in our apartment this proved to be a problem. Because lets face it, who likes to clean? We have a cleaning schedule to keep all the roommates do their part in cleaning. But the problem arose to who cleans the vacuum, and the vacuum was never maintained and eventually overheated the motor and broke.CONCLUSION
This is a great vacuum and I recommend it to those who have carpeted apartments. For those of us with wood floors or in a roommate situation, this is not the best vacuum to have. In fact it's best to avoid bag-less vacuums. Just go for the more traditional bag vacuum, you can all (roommates) split the cost for the bags.

I went to a local authorized repair center and learned about how bag less vacuums work and the lifespan of the affordable vacuums such as this one have.
What I learned, low-end vacuums, such as this one have about a two or more years worth of use, if maintained properly before they break. It has to do with the quality of motor that they use on these things.

I also learned about the advantages and disadvantages of bag-less vacuums. The advantages are obvious--no bags to buy to use the vacuum, and less waste--it's a bit more ecological to have a bag-less vacuum. The disadvantages are the maintenance. The vacuum needs regular thorough cleaning of its own.

I HATE THIS VACUUM CLEANER.It used to work OK on non carpeted floors but not it is just completely useless. It doesn't even pick up pieces of dried rice from the floor (and that is with the canister emptied).For your own sake, invest in a better vacuum.For the same amout of money, you can buy a much better vacuum.I would suggest anything panasonic or Miele.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these for a family member and it would not hold a charge, couldn't sweep anything up (it just doesn't have the power) and the UV lamp is too small to really kill anything.The final insult was that the handle broke!When I called Verilux, they told me they didn't think it was very good either!!Save your money and buy another brand of cordless sweeper for $29.95 at Amazon.

(More customer reviews)I returned my first Halo when the brush bar stopped working after 4 months. Actually, Sears would not take it back, but since their repair center did not have the part to fix it, they made an exchange for a new one.
The new one had the same problem after 2 uses. I tried to return it, but it seemed to start working again in the store, so Sears would not take it back, even though the receipt for this one is only about 3 weeks old. Sears has a 90-day satisfaction guaranteed return policy......if the item is in the original packaging.
(Raise your hand if YOU keep all your original packaging when you buy something this big that SHOULD not give you problems...........!)
Well, I brought the "working" vac back home & when I tried it 2 days later, it was not working.
Tomorrow I return to do battle with Sears. Sears may very well turn up as the subject for another review.

(More customer reviews)I bought this relatively pricey combo vacuum with the hopes of replacing two other devices: our cordless Dustbuster and corded Hoover Stick Broom.Unfortunately the Electrolux usually sits in it charger unused as it just doesn't perform well.

PROS: looks great, lightweight, very maneuverable around and under furniture, charging base has handy light that doubles as nightlight

CONS: very weak suction, clogs easily, design flaws for removable handheld, tends to scatter dirt instead of collecting it

We have 100% hardwood floors and tile/linoleum throughout the house, and our hope was to find a cordless upright that we could use for quick jobs of sucking up pet hair and dirt around entryway doors, etc. At first glance the Electrolux seemed the perfect fit: it was cordless but could be used on floors without having to bend over, and for tight spot jobs the removable handheld unit would negate the need for our Dustbuster.Unfortuntely it just doesn't perform well at all.Even for light hair and dirt jobs the upright clogs far too easily.There is a piece of flexible tubing leading from the bottom of the vacuum to the handheld unit (the handheld snaps into place near the base and actually does the suction), and the angle of this narrow, flexible tubing is about 90 degrees and the smallest leaf or twig causes a clog. If the tubing is completely clear the suction is decent enough for very lightweight sweeping, but even at that point the spinning brush in the base of the upright unit tends to throw small debris aside before the suction can pull it up into the bag (for example, I've tried using it to clean up light amounts of stray litter debris around the cat box but it tends to just throw the litter around the floor instead of sucking it up). I find that compared to the Hoover I have to go over the same floor area with several more sweeps to and fro to get all of the hair and dirt.

Other annoyances include the inability to empty the dirt collector without removing the handheld from the upright.Also the handheld power button will not stay in an On position without holding it tightly with a finger or thumb (when using as an upright the power will stay on by itself). The mouth opening of the handheld is also much smaller than your typical Dustbuster and even for small jobs takes several more sweeps back and forth to collect the same amount of dirt of just a few sweeps with a Dustbuster.

So overall I find myself using our two older vacuums and even going to the added trouble of putting an extension cord on the Hoover to do general house vaccuming instead of even bothering to pull the Electrolux out of its stand. Even though it's cordless it just seems to take longer and more effort to get the same amount of work done.It's basically not much more than an expensive nightlight for our laundry room. I really wish I had the good experience with it I seem to see other Amazon users reporting, but alas I cannot honestly say I feel this device delivers anywhere near what it promises.
